Branded Email Setup

This is an in depth overview on how to set up a Branded Email for your SendThisFile account which will rebrand your outbound notification emails as if they came from your server. Here we will find where to add a Branded Email, how to set it up, and go over the customization features you have.

On the SendThisFile homepage – www.sendthisfile.com – look for the ‘User Sign-in’ in the upper right hand corner.

You will then be taken to the Sign-in page. Go ahead and enter the email address and password you used to create your account and then hit ‘Continue’

After you click the green ‘Continue’ button you will be taken to a ‘Sign In Successful’ page – you then have to click the green ‘Continue’ button again to be taken to the personal file sending page.

Once you are on the Personal File Sending page, click on ‘Add Branded Email’

The next page is an overview of what a Branded Email does. It rebrands your outbound notification emails as if they came from your server, allowing you to further your branding footprint on your SendThisFile account. Click on the ‘Name for the new template’ field and type in the name you wish your new template to have. You also have the option to choose to send your email in HTML or in Text. For purposes of this how-to article we will proceed with the HTML version as it is the one most used.

Next Click on ‘Edit’ – this will allow you to customize your Branded Email

The next page is the individual notifications that you can customize in order to have the verbiage and visuals that you want them to have. Each section is a different notification, with the description of what the notification does to the right of the sections title in parentheses. Here is a picture of some of the sections:

It can look somewhat confusing if you are used to looking at internet code before, but it is extremely easy to make small changes that can significantly alter the look of your email notifications. At any point you can click on ‘Update the Template’ at the top of the section and then click the ‘View’ button next to the sections title & description to see how the changes you’ve made look.  Let’s take the example of changing the SendThisFile logo on all of the notification emails.

The logo is located in the ‘Header’ section. Any changes that are made in the ‘Header’ or ‘Footer’ section of your Branded Email template will show on every notification; you do not need to change it for each one. First scroll the ‘Header’ section down to the bottom of the box. Next look for the actual web address for the current SendThisFile logo that is in the header. Look for [http://www.sendthisfile.com/images/logo_004.gif]

In a new browser tab or window go to the web address of the logo you would like to replace the SendThisFile logo with. Copy the web address and then go back to your window/tab with your SendThisFile Branded Email settings and then highlight the boxed portion (from image above) and then press ‘Ctrl + v’ to paste your logo’s address into the ‘Header’ box. Click ‘Update the Template’ and then click ‘View’ next to the ‘Header’

And with that particular logo the header now looks like this:

Now lets take a look at how to change the text of an email notification. Scroll down to the section titled “Expiration Warning”. This is the email that is sent to the sender when a file is going to expire soon. In the box you can scroll up and down to see the entire message. One thing to note is ever time you see ” <br> ” that is code for a line break.

Let’s change the actual text of the message and what that looks like.  At the end of the last sentence shown let’s add an additional point. Type “If you need assistance, please contact us at 1-855-736-3844″.  After you have completed that click ‘Update the Template’ at the bottom of the screen.

Now click on ‘View’ next to the ‘Expiration Warning (sent to sender when a file is going to expire soon)’. A window will pop up and show the new Expiration Warning notification email and you can see the changes that we’ve made.
