Is my file secure when I’m transferring files online?

Yes, to keep your data safe SendThisFile utilizes 128-bit SSL encryption security for all accounts during file transfers during uploading and downloading of your data.

While your file is temporarily stored in our system, Business and Enterprise plans have the option of using 256-bit AES encryption for additional security. Both SSL and AES methods of encryption are secure for transferring legal documents, medical records and medical images. SendThisFile also meets the file transfer requirements of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA).

If you have a free file transfer plan, and want to encrypt your files while they are in our system, consider using a file encryption program to encrypt your files before you send files.  We recommend using PGP, a premier encryption utility to encrypt and unencrypt your files.

Once your file expires (file expiration varies by plan), your file will be automatically and securely deleted from our system.
